Cash boost for children’s hospice appeal
An appeal to build a new children’s hospice in the region has received almost £1,000 from young business professionals.
The cash, raised by the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants Students’ Society (NCASS) at its annual dinner, has been donated to the Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal.
Grace House plans to build an eight-bed hospice to provide a home-from-home for very sick children from the Scottish Borders to Teesside. It will offer support for parents, as well as respite and terminal care.
NCASS chair Gemma Rigby said: “We like to support local charities through our annual dinner and we hope our donation will help towards making the new children’s hospice a reality.”
Grace House fund-raiser Julie Bartle, who received the cheque, said: “The North East has the lowest number of hospice beds for children in the country. More than 1,000 families in the region whose children have life-limiting or long-term illnesses could benefit from this type of facility.”
