NCASS Raises funds for Tiny Lives Charity
Student chartered accountants hand over cash to baby charity.
Young chartered accountants Ele Brown and Samantha Hill visited the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary on 22/07/11 to hand over a cheque for £2293.58 for the Tiny Lives charity on behalf of local ICAEW chartered accountancy students.
The money was raised from generous donations received at a quiz evening and also at raffles held at the Northern Chartered Accountant Student Society (NCASS) dinners in Newcastle and in Teesside.
For NCASS, Samantha Hill said:
“We are all delighted with the amount we have managed to raise and would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support for Tiny Lives. Every year 600 premature or ill newborn babies from right across the North East are admitted to the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Tiny Lives offers vital services such as education and training, funding for research and help with equipment and expenses for parents who may have to travel often and from some distance to the Unit. I am just extremely happy that we are able to help in some small way with this money.”
For Tiny Lives, administrator Louise Carroll said:
“The amount raised by the Young Charted Accountants is wonderful. All their hard work has paid off and without supporters like these Tiny Lives would not be able to fund:
- vital, cutting edge equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit
- Cost of specialist staff training and conferences
- Helping parents from across the region with travel and parking costs.
It was also nice to meet Sam and Ele at the Unit and show them where their money will be going. “
