Quality counts for top Tees trainees
Three trainee chartered accountants have been recognised on Teesside for excelling in their professional exams.
Emma Johnson, Helen Peacock and Jenny Hill received awards from the C U Peat prize fund for outstanding performance in the exams leading to the ACA qualification of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Emma, who works for Anderson Barrowcliff, Stockton, came first in the Northern region for the case study in the ICAEW’s Advanced Stage (AS) exams, which she completed in July 2007.
Helen Peacock of Kenneth Easby, Bedale, also passed the AS last November, while Jenny Hill of Leonard Bye, Middlesbrough, completed the Professional Stage exams last December and was sixth in the region for the business finance paper.
Each was presented with a specially-inscribed, gold-plated pen by prize fund representative Rob Tindle at the Teesside chartered accountants students’ annual dinner at Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium.
Mr Tindle said: “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to qualify as a chartered accountant and all three fully deserve this recognition for their achievement in the ACA exams.”
The fund was established in 1961 by former Darlington MP Charles Urie Peat, a leading figure in the accountancy profession. Mr Peat, was a senior partner in leading accountancy firm Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co, which had offices in Middlesbrough, Darlington and Newcastle. He became national president of the ICAEW in 1959.
